The weather for the next few days is expected to be mild, with limited rainfall mainly in areas of the Aegean, eastern mainland and southern islands. The temperature will be close to climatic norms, with possible variations towards Christmas.
Thodoros Kolydas said in a recent post that Greece remains on the periphery of the barometric systems, which are moving mainly west and north, affecting Central and Northern Europe. This means that the rainfall expected in the country will be limited and localized, with no signs of widespread or persistent phenomena on a nationwide scale.
The main phenomena will be limited to the Aegean, eastern mainland, and southern islands, where transient rainfall is expected, mainly due to isolated low systems or disturbances in the southeastern Mediterranean region. In contrast, the western and northern parts seem to remain more deprived of precipitation, as the main fronts are dissipating in areas further west of our country.
Despite the relatively mild weather picture for the coming period, forecasts remain uncertain as we approach Christmas. The forecast for the next two weeks, up to December 1,6 looks reliable, with models showing temperatures close to or slightly above climatic normals. However, the pattern of systems in the Central Mediterranean may change the weather pattern, and the approach to Christmas brings increased uncertainty, with forecast models showing strong scatter from December 17-18 onwards.
Scenarios for after 17 December show a likely change in weather, with temperature variation being greater and precipitation becoming more difficult to predict. The difference between the models is increasing and this is a telling sign that the forecast is entering a period of low predictability.
This means that although the weather remains mild for the foreseeable future, the overall picture for Christmas weather is not yet “locked in” and caution is needed. Forecasts may vary, so weather monitoring will continue with extreme caution.
The weather picture for the next few days shows a mild period, with localized rainfall and near-normal temperatures. However, the situation may change as we get closer to the holidays, with the forecast for Christmas still uncertain. Caution is advised and monitoring the development of systems over the coming days.
