A 30-year-old man surrendered today in Kalamata in connection with the double murder in Finikounta in early October.
According to information, an international arrest warrant had been pending against him, and he is charged with complicity.
It is recalled that a few days ago, the nephew of the 68-year-old owner of the campsite in Finikounta and a businessman friend of his from Athens were arrested following warrants issued by the investigating judge as part of the investigation into the double murder. Both are charged with moral instigation of the crime.
Authorities had been searching for the 30-year-old, who is a friend of the businessman who was arrested, as he is allegedly involved in the case. This is the fifth arrest, as, apart from the nephew and his friend, two other individuals have also been arrested for the crime.
Nephew declares himself innocent
The nephew and his friend have been placed in pretrial detention. During his testimony, the nephew repeated what he had maintained in his previous statements as a witness, denying any involvement. He declared himself innocent, stated that he wishes for the case to be clarified, and that he has cooperated with the authorities from the very beginning, speaking of coincidences regarding what is being attributed to him.
On the other hand, the businessman from Athens, a close friend of the nephew and co-manager of the campsite, insisted on his innocence, stressing that he is unjustly facing charges, reiterating what he has maintained from the outset.
