According to patrisnews, the incident occurred following a heated argument between the couple. The man reportedly lost control, grabbed a knife from the kitchen, and moved threateningly toward his wife.

In her panic, the woman managed to escape, lock herself in the bedroom, and call the police for help.

Officers from the Pyrgos Police Department arrived promptly at the scene, where they encountered the suspect still holding the knife and threatening to end his own life. Negotiations followed and lasted approximately 45 minutes, until he was persuaded to put the weapon down.

He was then restrained, arrested, and taken to the police station. Criminal charges were filed against him for attempted homicide and domestic violence. He requested and was granted time to prepare his defense and is expected to testify on Friday; until then, he is being held at the Ilia Police Directorate.
