Bloomberg: Trump’s son-in-law and Steve Whitcoff plan to meet with Putin in Moscow

The meeting could take place this month, although plans are not final and the timing may be postponed due to the unrest in Iran.

Newsroom January 14 06:01

White House special envoy Stiv Whitcoff and U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are reportedly planning to travel to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The meeting could take place this month, though plans are not final and may be delayed due to unrest in Iran, the report said. Reuters could not independently confirm the information, and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A White House official told Bloomberg that no such meeting is currently scheduled.

According to Bloomberg, U.S. officials would present the latest draft peace proposals to Putin and his team. The discussions are expected to cover U.S. and European security guarantees in support of any agreement, as well as postwar reconstruction plans for Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Donald Trump expressed frustration with Putin over the continuation of the war in Ukraine, saying he had initially thought ending the conflict would be “an easy thing to do.”
