Zelensky: If an agreement is reached, we are ready to sign even next week

Zelensky says agreements could be finalized soon, stressing the need for long-term security guarantees beyond political cycles

Newsroom January 16 02:54

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Friday that Kyiv is ready to sign a peace agreement with the United States and Russia.

According to Zelensky, the documents for an agreement between Ukraine and the United States could be signed as early as next week, provided that an understanding is reached beforehand.

He added that an agreement aimed at ending the hostilities in Ukraine could be ratified in the Swiss city of Davos, where international leaders, including Donald Trump, are expected to gather for the World Economic Forum from January 19 to 23.

Zelensky also noted that a Ukrainian delegation is already on its way to the United States for talks on security guarantees and a broader package of measures focused on economic stability and prosperity. During these discussions, Kyiv’s delegation hopes to receive clear information regarding Russia’s position as well.

“Ukraine needs security guarantees that will last longer than Trump’s term in office,” the Ukrainian president said, while also accusing Moscow of delaying peace efforts and stressing that ultimatums are not a way to conduct diplomacy.
