DEDDIE’s Response to the Municipality of Glyfada: ‘The project is fully lawful and based on approved technical and environmental studies’

“The legal route chosen by the Municipality of Glyfada is welcome, so that the truth may come to light away from battles of impressions and fruitless confrontations,” the statement says

Newsroom January 27 11:55

Following the announcement by the Mayor of Glyfada, Giorgos Papadopoulos, that the municipality will take legal action against the Distribution System Operator—because the project “functioned as a dam which subsequently collapsed, violently releasing the trapped volume of water with incredible and multiplied force, sweeping away even large rocks and flooding downstream areas”—DEDDIE issued the following response:

“DEDDIE remains committed to ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the electricity distribution network, with the safety of citizens and the protection of the environment as top priorities.

The undergrounding project of the R-350 line on Mount Hymettus is fully lawful, based on approved technical and environmental studies, and is being implemented within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Fund. It forms part of the national plan for the modernization and reinforcement of the country’s energy infrastructure.

The legal course chosen by the Municipality of Glyfada is welcome, so that the truth may come to light, away from battles of impressions and unproductive conflicts.”
