Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the wage increases seen today by private-sector workers on their payslips, resulting from tax reductions, in a video he posted on social media.

“I am well aware of the difficulties households are facing due to high prices, and I also know that no single relief measure is sufficient on its own,” he said, commenting on today’s increases, which stem from the state budget and provisions for tax cuts.

According to Mitsotakis, the increases can add up, under certain conditions, to as much as two months’ salary per year, depending on pay scale, age and family status, as the government’s aim is to provide tangible support to Greek families.

In the video, the prime minister also refers to an excerpt from his speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair, where he had announced a two-percentage-point reduction in tax rates.

“We said it, and we’re doing it,” he concluded.
