Shortly before 1:00 p.m., livestock farmers arrived at the Maximos Mansion for their meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The prime minister is currently meeting with the livestock farmers’ delegation, in a meeting that had been scheduled during Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ first consultation with representatives of farmers who had supported dialogue with the government during the recent agricultural protests.

The prime minister reiterated that supporting Greek livestock farming and the products it produces is a non-negotiable priority for the government, and for him personally. “We leaned into the problems of the sector and responded to your justified demands, most importantly by covering income replacement for livestock farmers and producers who lost their animals.” He added that for as long as this ordeal continues, “we will stand by Greek livestock farming, but of course our priority is the complete eradication of foot-and-mouth disease.”

Upon their arrival at the Maximos Mansion, the farmers made no statements; however, they are expected to speak after the conclusion of the meeting.

The main topic of discussion with representatives of the sector will be the planning and future of the agricultural and livestock sector.

All critical issues facing the sector will be discussed in depth, as the government’s goal is to explore options for supporting the country’s livestock industry through reorganization and long-term planning, ensuring that it is sustainable and resilient for many years to come.
