The ELTA is launching the closure of its first 11 branches from February 20 as part of a plan to reorganize its nationwide service network. This is the first wave of suspensions, ahead of a general reduction in the number of self-operated outlets announced for 2026.

According to the official announcement by the Postal Service, these stores are ceasing operations and their work is being transferred to customer agencies, partner agencies, or other service points in the same area. The changes are in areas where, as noted, there are already alternative service options and banking coverage through ATMs or bank branches.

The 11 stores closing as of February 20 are as follows:

– Alivery

– Lechaina, Ilia

– Alexandria, Imathia

– Archanes Heraklion

– Paramythia of Thesprotia

– Koufalia of Thessaloniki

– Sofades of Karditsa

– Neapolis, Laconia

– Skala, Laconia

– Almiros Magnesia

– Stylida, Fthiotida

For each of the above areas, ELTA’s services are transferred to agencies located at a distance of 200 to 700 meters from the closing store, with ELTA noting that all postal services and post office box services are provided at the new locations. An exception is the banking transactions of Eurobank, for which, according to the announcement, citizens can be served by bank branches and ATMs operating in the same areas.

As specified, in any case, a transition period is foreseen with parallel operation of the customer and the new service point, as well as on-site support from ELTA staff to the new agents. At the same time, it is stressed that postal delivery continues without any change, while it is stated that no regular staff jobs are being eliminated.

These 11 stores are the first stage of the network realignment process, with subsequent transitions planned for the coming period.

1. Aliveri: ELTA services in Aliveri are being moved from 20.02 to a nearby ELTA partner location. 3. Alexandria Imathia. The postal agency of the local partner, Mrs. Georgia Bentila will operate at 600 meters, with extended opening hours.
