A group of people were attacked by wolves on the road between Kryoneri and Vasilika Estates in Tatoi, according to a Facebook post by the Municipality of Acharnon. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The Municipality also emphasized the safety guidelines that should be followed by anyone planning to visit Mount Parnitha during the three-day Clean Monday (Carnival) holiday weekend.

Safety Instructions:

  • If you spot a wolf, do not run. If the animal is at a considerable distance, do not approach it and maintain eye contact at all times. If it comes closer, act aggressively by making loud noises—shout and use any available objects to create noise.

  • Avoid walking in remote areas or within the park with your dog. In all cases, dogs must be kept on a leash.

  • Avoid visiting these areas when natural light is limited, especially early in the morning and at dusk, a few hours before nightfall.

  • Do not feed wildlife, either intentionally or unintentionally, for any reason. Do not leave food scraps outside trash bins in peri-urban areas.

  • Report any wolf sightings to the Forest Service or other relevant authorities. The Municipality of Acharnon is closely monitoring the situation and is cooperating fully with the competent authorities.
