The new increase in the minimum wage will be discussed in the Cabinet at the end of March, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced during the meeting of the Government Council for Economic Policy.
The aim of the meeting was to plan the agenda of the productive ministries for 2026, with the central targets already set by the budget — namely, the dynamic continuation of growth rates above the average and the continuation of positive results in the labor market.
Mr. Mitsotakis also referred to the changes that artificial intelligence will bring. “Artificial intelligence will change many things in the labor market in the coming years, and I believe this is something that will concern us also from the perspective of the education system, certainly from the perspective of our policies for post-secondary education, as well as for training and lifelong learning, where I believe we still have significant room for improvement.”
On high prices
Once again focusing on high prices, the Prime Minister noted that the creation of an Independent Consumer Authority will mark important steps toward better understanding what is happening in the market.
Mr. Mitsotakis reminded that citizens have already seen the first results of significant tax cuts. “They understand that these policies have a real impact on their disposable income,” he said.
