Explosions were heard today in Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, according to journalists from the Agence France-Presse, Reuters, and eyewitnesses, as Iran continues its attacks on Gulf countries in retaliation for U.S. and Israeli strikes.
AFP journalists reported hearing strong explosions in Qatar’s capital and in Dubai, while two residents of Abu Dhabi told AFP that they heard explosions in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Eyewitnesses from Reuters also reported a powerful explosion in Dubai.
Trump Comments on Iran and Europe
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iran “no longer has a navy, air force, or air defenses” and said the United States “eliminated the leader of the pack in Iran, Khamenei.” He suggested the worst-case scenario would be a more extreme leader taking power in Iran and defended the 2020 killing of Qasem Soleimani, saying “things could be different today” if it hadn’t happened.
On military readiness, Trump emphasized the U.S. has “unlimited ammunition stockpiles” and justified strikes on Iran, stating they were preparing attacks on Israel and others, and that Europe funds ammunition but sends much of it to Ukraine.
Regarding international relations, Trump described Spain as having “nice people, but not nice leadership,” expressed dissatisfaction with Britain, and said the U.S. has strong ties with Germany. He also remarked on Venezuela, noting that 100 million barrels of oil were “used to repay the war.”
On domestic politics, he dismissed comparisons to historical figures, saying about Labour leader Keir Starmer: “We are not dealing with Churchill here.”

Trump expressed optimism in an interview with Politico that Iran’s military capabilities are being degraded, saying that Tehran is “running out” of missiles “and running out of places to launch them from.”

Putin to urge Tehran to ease tensions with Arab states
Vladimir Putin will convey to Iran the concerns of Arab leaders regarding attacks on oil infrastructure in the region, according to the Kremlin, as the conflict with Iran continues to escalate.
Yesterday, Putin held a series of phone calls with four Gulf Arab leaders and offered to use Moscow’s relations with Tehran — with which it has a strategic partnership — to try to ease tensions in the region.
“Putin will make every possible effort to contribute at least to a small reduction of tensions,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists.
“Yesterday’s discussions with nearly all of his counterparts from the Arab states focused on Putin conveying his deep concern about attacks on their infrastructure to our colleagues in Iran, utilizing the dialogue we maintain with the Iranian leadership.”
Putin has not spoken with U.S. President Donald Trump since the start of the campaign against Iran, and Peskov stated.
UK Considers Sending Warship to Cyprus
The Times newspaper reports that British Defense Secretary John Healey held a meeting this morning to discuss the potential deployment of the destroyer HMS Duncan—one of the UK’s few available warships—to the eastern Mediterranean.

“There are numerous scenarios, and there is also the risk that all scenarios may prove wrong.
