Sri Lankan authorities have rescued 78 injured, several in critical condition

An alert has been issued along the coasts of Sri Lanka after sources from the navy and the country’s Ministry of Defense told Reuters on Wednesday that an Iranian warship was attacked by a submarine, leaving behind missing and injured personnel.

The same sources reported at least 101 people missing and 78 injured from the strike on the frigate IRIS Dena.

Earlier, local authorities spoke of rescuing 32 “heavily injured” sailors aboard the Iranian frigate, approximately 40 kilometers south of the island, while the Defense Minister noted that the ship has sunk.
