Hundreds of jellyfish have washed ashore on a beach in Evia, as shown in a photo published by the regional governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanos.
The snapshot was taken at Limenari Politikon Beach and shows hundreds of jellyfish washed up on a rocky part of the shoreline. The image is reminiscent of similar situations recorded last summer, when large concentrations of jellyfish made their presence strongly felt in the Evoikos Gulf.

At that time, many swimmers avoided entering the sea, which affected visitor numbers at certain beaches and, consequently, the local market.
Experts point out that the increase in jellyfish populations may be linked to environmental factors, such as rising sea temperatures and the reduction of their natural predators. For this reason, they stress the need for systematic monitoring of the phenomenon and timely information for swimmers.
At the same time, the relevant authorities are calling on visitors to be cautious while swimming and to follow the relevant guidelines, while coastal clean-up actions and scientific studies are being considered to better manage the phenomenon in the future.
