Moscow says it is in constant contact with Tehran and is ready to contribute to the return to peace

Dmitry Peskov spoke of British involvement in the Ukrainian attack in Bryansk

Newsroom March 11 01:42

The Kremlin is in constant contact with the Iranian leadership and Moscow is ready to contribute to the return to peace and stability in the region, the Kremlin said today.

“Here I can only say that we are in constant contact with the Iranian side and with the Iranian leadership,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“As President Vladimir Putin has said, Russia is always ready to do everything it can to restore peace and stability in the region,” he added.

Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have held talks with their Iranian counterparts in recent days, while the Russian president also had a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, the Kremlin announced that British experts were involved in the killing Ukrainian strike on Russia’s Bryansk city of Bryansk using British Storm Shadow missiles (British-French-made long-range cruise missiles).

Peskov added that the “special military operation,” as Moscow calls it, would continue to prevent such “barbaric” attacks.

At least six people died and 37 were wounded in the attack in Bryansk yesterday, Tuesday.

Ukraine said it hit a factory that makes missile components, while Moscow claims Kiev targeted civilians.

The significant outages and internet problems experienced in Russia in recent days will continue “for as long as necessary” to ensure “the security of citizens” against Ukrainian threats, Peskov further said.

“The Kiev regime is using increasingly sophisticated methods for its attacks and technological countermeasures are necessary to ensure the security of citizens,” he clarified.

According to Peskov, the next round of trilateral talks on Ukraine will likely take place in Istanbul, but there are no concrete details yet, only the understanding that the peace process will continue.

Russia and Ukraine held three rounds of talks in this Turkish city last year. U.S.-brokered negotiations were held this year in Abu Dhabi and Geneva.
