The Hellenic Police carried out an operation related to the incident in Athens and Thessaloniki, during which officers detained four people. Three of those detentions were later converted into formal arrests. Searches are still underway in Thessaloniki for another suspect.

According to reports, one of the people identified is believed to be one of the gunmen involved in the shooting.

The shooting incident

The incident began shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, when three gunmen — described by eyewitnesses as dark-skinned — entered a supermarket on Marathonos Avenue. They approached a fourth man who was shopping inside the store. All four were reportedly Turkish nationals.

A confrontation followed, after which the man went to the place where he had parked his car, at the intersection of Marathonos Avenue and Platiaon Street.

The three suspects then crossed to the opposite side of the street, entered a mini market, and watched their target for about ten minutes.

As soon as they saw the car engine start, they crossed the street, approached the vehicle, and within seconds fired at least seven shots at it.

The car sped off toward Dionysus, while the attackers fled on foot through the surrounding alleys.

According to reports, the owner of the mini market told police that while the suspects were in the store, they asked about a suitcase and were looking for a taxi.
