Turnout in the process to elect delegates for the PASOK congress “exceeded all expectations,” said Nikos Androulakis, announcing that 174,813 citizens took part—well above the roughly 155,000 initially estimated on Sunday.
“PASOK once again demonstrated its deep social and democratic roots. Yesterday’s participation exceeded every expectation. 174,813 citizens sent a clear message—that the need for political change is a social priority that can become reality,” Androulakis stated.
“Together we can restore strength to the Democratic Progressive camp and offer a new perspective for the country. Nothing was given to us, and nothing will be given to us. We will achieve everything through daily struggle, because the Greece we deserve will be won together,” he added.
Full statement by Nikos Androulakis
“PASOK once again proved its deep social and democratic roots. Yesterday’s participation exceeded every expectation.
174,813 citizens sent a powerful message—that the need for political change is a social priority that can become reality.
That is why I call today on every Greek woman and every Greek man to place their trust in us.
Let us unite our forces so that our country can turn a new page with a progressive plan that will strengthen labor rights, public healthcare and public education.
A plan that will make housing a right again and not a privilege for a few.
A plan that will bring better days for you and your children.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who participated in the process of electing congress delegates. I especially want to thank the thousands of volunteers who worked with dedication and responsibility to ensure this major democratic process was conducted flawlessly.
Even more so, I thank the members and supporters of PASOK who, with patience and faith, went to the polls and sent a clear message of participation, hope and political change.
Together we can restore strength to the Democratic Progressive camp and offer a new perspective for the country. Nothing was given to us and nothing will be given to us. We will achieve everything through daily struggle, because the Greece we deserve will be won together.”
