Metron Analysis and MRB show a rise of ND by nearly two points, reaching 31.1% due to the war

PASOK comes second; Androulakis remains “unchanged.” How citizens viewed the expulsion of Konstantinopoulos – Plefsi and Elliniki Lysi are declining – Cross-party support for sending frigates and F-16s to Cyprus, but opposition to Greece’s involvement in the war – Anti-profiteering measures seen positively

Newsroom March 19 10:58

A significant polling increase for New Democracy (ND), due to the ongoing war in the Persian Gulf and the government’s moves to strengthen Cyprus, was recorded by both polls presented on Thursday by MRB (Open) and Metron Analysis (Mega).

Both polls place ND at 31.1% in voting intention, with PASOK in second place, also showing gains. However, this rise is not reflected in the standing of Nikos Androulakis himself, who remains stuck in fourth place in suitability for prime minister.

Both Hellenic Solution and Course of Freedom record declines. However, Zoe Konstantopoulou remains second in suitability for prime minister and the most popular political leader.

The MRB poll

ND’s lead rises to 17.1 points, reaching 31.1% (adjusted over the total sample) in the MRB poll presented on Open’s main news bulletin. This picture—seen across all polls since the start of the war—aligns with public opinion responses, with 70% agreeing to the deployment of frigates and F-16s to Cyprus, while also calling for Greece not to become involved in the conflict in the Persian Gulf.

PASOK shows an increase of more than one point—1.3—after months, returning to and stabilizing in second place with 14% (from 12.7%) in vote estimation. This rise is combined with a loss of 2.6 points for Course of Freedom, which drops from 13.2% to 10.6%. In fact, Konstantopoulou’s party falls to fourth place, as Hellenic Solution records smaller losses (-1.2%) and reaches 11.5% in vote estimation.

The MRB survey indicates an eight-party parliament, as Voice of Reason and Niki secure 3%. Undecided voters (including blank, invalid, and abstention) decrease by 3.6 points compared to the company’s late-January survey, though they remain around 20%.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis gains 1.4 points, reaching 24.6%. Nikos Androulakis also gains 0.6 points but still remains fourth in suitability for prime minister with a weak 5.1%. Despite her significant drop, Zoë Konstantopoulou remains second in suitability with 9.1%.

Androulakis’s decision to expel Odysseas Konstantinopoulos from PASOK’s parliamentary group is supported by one in five overall, while more than four in ten disagree. Among PASOK voters from the European elections, 36.9% agree, 31.5% disagree, and 31.6% respond “don’t know / no answer.”

Yes to frigates and neutrality

There is broad, cross-party approval of the government’s decision to send frigates and F-16s to Cyprus: 69.8% agree, while 67.7% support sending Patriot systems to Karpathos. Additionally, 51.6% say the government’s measures to cap company profits in fuel and food are in the right direction.

Regarding the stance the prime minister should take, 68.2% call for neutrality, 16.4% want him to criticize the actions of Trump and Netanyahu, and only 10.4% support backing the US and Israel.
