Papastavrou in the U.S. for meetings with Chevron and ExxonMobil: Talks on fast-tracking energy agreements

The Minister of Environment and Energy will meet with company representatives on the sidelines of the leading energy event CERAWeek 2026, held in Houston, Texas

Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou is traveling today to Houston, United States, where he will hold meetings with representatives of Chevron and ExxonMobil on the sidelines of the major energy conference CERAWeek 2026. Accompanying him will be Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikos Tsafos and the CEO of the Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management Company (EDEYEP), Aristofanis Stefatos.

Specifically, Papastavrou and Tsafos will meet on Monday, March 23, with Kevin McLachlan, Vice President of Exploration at Chevron. On Tuesday, March 24, they will meet with ExxonMobil Vice President John Ardill. The focus of the discussions will be on accelerating the implementation of ratified agreements in the hydrocarbons development sector.

As part of CERAWeek, Papastavrou will speak on Monday, March 23, in a panel titled “The Gas Bridge: Connecting EastMed gas to global markets,” alongside Ditte Juul-Joergensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission, Eric Eyberg, Global Head of Gas and Power Consulting at S&P Global, and Osama Mobarez, Secretary General of the East Mediterranean Gas Forum.

Following that, Tsafos will participate in a panel titled “European competitiveness: Regulations and growth,” together with Laurent Ruseckas, Executive Director at S&P Global, Andreas Feicht, CEO and Chairman of RheinEnergie, and Miguel Ángel López Borrego, CEO of Thyssenkrupp AG.

On the same day, Papastavrou will also be the keynote speaker at an event organized in his honor by the Baker Institute of Rice University, a leading research institute on energy geopolitics, where he will discuss “the enhanced role of Greece in the transatlantic energy architecture.”
