A new strike on critical infrastructure in southern Lebanon was carried out by the Israeli army, targeting the Qasmiyeh bridge over the Litani River, just hours after issuing a warning of an imminent attack in the area.

Protothema.gr’s correspondent in Lebanon, Marinos Aleiferis, arrived at the scene shortly after the attack, documenting extensive damage to the bridge and the surrounding road network.

Shocking images from the site capture the scale of the destruction.

Earlier, the IDF had warned they would bomb the area “due to Hezbollah activity and the movement of militants in southern Lebanon under the cover of the civilian population.”

Video footage released in the media also shows the moment of the bombing.

The choice of this specific bridge is part of a broader Israeli strategy to restrict Hezbollah’s mobility and access in southern Lebanon.

The area has been designated a “red zone” by Israeli authorities, with clear warnings for civilians to move north for safety reasons.

The situation on the ground remains highly critical, as the number of displaced people in Lebanon due to the ongoing war in the Middle East is approaching 1 million, according to international estimates.
