Giannis Peristeras is set to take part in another major competition!
A few months ago, the FIM and the Superbike World Championship announced the new World Sportbike (WSPB) category for the 2026 season, which will replace WorldSSP 300 with higher-displacement motorcycles. The Greek rider will compete in this new category.
The 20-year-old rider competed this year in the Italian R7 Cup, finishing 5th in the overall standings. This result gave him the opportunity to participate in the Yamaha R7 European Cup SuperFinale, where he won the first race and finished 5th in the second, securing 3rd place overall.
The new entry-level category will debut in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship in 2026 and, according to the official announcement, “aims to further streamline the pathway for young riders moving up to the World Supersport category. Featuring agile, mid-capacity motorcycles, this new class promises exciting competition and improved opportunities for manufacturers, teams, and riders.”
Initial reports suggest that the Greek rider will compete next season in this new category on an Aprilia machine. An official announcement with more details is still expected, while the technical regulations and final specifications for participating motorcycles have yet to be confirmed.
Giannis Peristeras, one of Greece’s top riders, already has experience in the WorldSSP category as well as on championship circuits.
In his journey through the demanding WorldSPB Championship, three companies are actively supporting him, demonstrating their belief in his effort, talent, and Greek representation at the highest level.
These are Alpha Group Service, Soul Estate, and Phalanx Elite Protection, which are backing the Greek rider’s career, contributing to a journey marked by high speeds, great demands, and international challenges.
