Donald Trump left open the possibility of a new round of peace talks with Iran within the next 48 hours, even pointing to Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, as a potential venue.

In a phone interview with The New York Post, the U.S. president noted that the negotiations are “moving forward, but at a somewhat slow pace,” initially implying that the next round of contacts could take place on European soil. However, in a later communication, he appeared more specific, stressing that “something may happen in the next two days” and that Islamabad is a strong contender.

Trump described Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, as “fantastic” and a decisive factor in hosting the talks. As he claimed, their personal relationship has strengthened recently.

At the same time, the U.S. president expressed dissatisfaction with reports suggesting that the United States proposed to Iran a 20-year suspension of its uranium enrichment program. “I keep saying they cannot have nuclear weapons,” he emphasized, rejecting that timeframe as insufficient.
