OPEKEPE: On Wednesday the plenary session on the lifting of the immunity of 11+2 members of New Democracy

Next Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at 12 noon, a special plenary session will be held to discuss and decide on the requests for waiver of immunity of the 11 + 2 South-Western Democrats MPs mentioned in the two new files on their involvement in cases of settlement of issues of producers and livestock farmers by the OPEKEPE.

The Ethics Committee has already since Tuesday unanimously issued an opinion on the lifting of the immunity of the 11 MPs of the Southwest, as requested by the same MPs who were mentioned in the second in a series of files sent to the Parliament by the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Court. Next Monday, 20 April, the Ethics Committee will meet and give its opinion on the two other ND MPs referred to in the third in a row file sent to Parliament. Thus, all 13 immunity requests will be introduced together in the plenary session for a final decision.

The requests for immunity concern ND MPs Katerina Papakosta, Kostas Karamanlis, Yannis Kefalogiannis, Notis Mitarakis, Kostas Tsiaras, Kostas Skrekas, Dimitris Vartzopoulos, Maximos Senetakis, Lakis Vassiliadis, Christos Boukoros, Theofilos Leonontaridis, Charalambos Athanasiou and Tasos Hadjivassiliou.

The Conference of Presidents also scheduled Wednesday morning, April 22, to discuss in plenary session and vote on the draft law of the Ministry of National Defense, the two Sanctions with the governments of Italy and Poland respectively on the Mutual Protection of Classified Information.

On Thursday, April 23, the draft law of the Ministry of Development entitled “Simplification of the framework for conducting economic activities under Law No. 4442/2016 – Definition of principles for the implementation of the framework for the supervision of economic activities and product markets under Law No. 4512/2018 – Arrangements for the protection of geographical indications for handicraft and industrial products and taking necessary measures for the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2023/2411 – Strengthening of development activity and strategic investments – Simplification of the institutional framework for outdoor trade and other provisions”.
