British police said today they are investigating a security incident near the Israeli embassy in London, with officers in protective gear assessing “discarded items” found nearby.
Counter-terrorism officers are also examining a video posted online overnight in which an organisation claims to have targeted the embassy with drones carrying dangerous substances, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
“While we can confirm that the embassy was not attacked, we are conducting an investigation under the emergency procedure to determine the reliability of the video and determine if there is any connection between it and the items found dumped in the Kensington Gardens,” the statement said.
Police said the area was cordoned off, and public access to the Gardens and the surrounding area was prohibited.
“We do not consider there to be an increased safety risk to the public at this stage,” the statement added.
