A deeply human and heartbreaking story comes to light, starring Wendy Duffy, a 56-year-old British mother who, despite being physically healthy and mentally fit, has decided to end her life in an assisted euthanasia clinic in Switzerland.

Her decision is directly linked to the tragic loss of her only child in an accident, an event she describes to the Daily Mail as having changed her life forever. She talks about a pain that won’t subside, a void that can’t be filled, and a daily life that has lost its meaning.

After a year of inner struggle and reflection, she has come to a decision that she says she considers conscious and final. “I want to die and that’s what I’m going to do. My life, my choice,”, she says, clearly capturing her attitude toward the next step.

According to the report, Wendy has already informed her family members of her intention, but has not disclosed when the trip will take place in order to protect them from potential legal consequences, as authorities in the United Kingdom can control the involvement of third parties in such proceedings.

Her application was reviewed by the Swiss clinic Pegasos, which operates under a specific legal framework that allows assisted suicide. A special committee, which included psychiatrists, approved her case after months of evaluation and full access to her medical records. According to reports, Wendy had previously attempted to end her life without success, which reinforced her decision to seek a controlled and legal process abroad. The clinic where she will go is run as a non-profit organization, with those interested covering the costs of medications, doctors, and procedures related to the death.

She chose to share her story publicly just before her journey, candidly describing her personal journey and the decision she says she made with full consciousness.
