Traffic on central roads in Athens has been moving with difficulty since early Thursday afternoon, as many people chose to begin their May Day long weekend trips today. Given that weather conditions are not favorable for island getaways (strong winds are expected at sea), the majority of travelers seem to be turning to destinations accessible by road.

Significant delays are being recorded on Attiki Odos and the Hymettus ring road. In the direction towards Elefsina, delays exceed 45 minutes from Paiania to Kifisias Avenue, heavily affecting traffic flow along this stretch.

At the same time, on the Hymettus ring road, in the same direction towards Elefsina, delays of 15 to 20 minutes are observed from Agia Paraskevi to Kifisias Avenue, with increased congestion at various points.

Similar problems are also observed in the direction towards the Airport, where delays of 25 to 30 minutes are recorded from Fyli to Kifisias Avenue.

Meanwhile, heavy traffic is reported on Kifisos Avenue in the direction towards Lamia, with congestion starting from the Faliro area and extending up to Nea Filadelfeia. In the opposite direction, traffic conditions are better, with delays mainly at the entrance to Attiki Odos in Metamorfosi.

Drivers are also facing issues on Athens Avenue, with traffic building up from Dafni to Skaramagas.

As for Kifisias Avenue, congestion in the outbound direction starts from its junction with Alexandras Avenue and extends up to Penteli.

Problems are also reported in central Athens. The most significant delays are observed on Alexandras Avenue, Mesogeion, Katehaki (in the direction from Ilioupoli), Vasilissis Konstantinou, Achilleos, Syngrou Avenue (inbound), Veikou Avenue, and Vouliagmenis Avenue.
