1.7 million euros would be made by the circuit from the half ton of skunk found in Igoumenitsa

The Bulgarian driver is not cooperating with the authorities - The destination of the drugs is still unknown

Newsroom May 1 03:56

Members of the ring were aiming for very substantial profits by transporting half a tonne of skunk-type cannabis from Spain before Greek authorities stopped it in Igoumenitsa.

As seen in the video of the Greek FBI operation at the port of Igoumenitsa, the drugs were scavenged by a specially trained dog named Vlad.

The footage shows the dog moving nervously and heading towards the back of the truck where boxes of stationery – such as napkins and rolls of paper – were placed in which the drugs had been hidden.

According to information reported by ERT, Greek authorities had placed the truck under discreet surveillance, using information they had received for about a month from Bulgarian authorities. According to the same information, the information was that trucks with Bulgarian plates might be used to transport large quantities of drugs through European routes.

After the investigation at the port of Igoumenitsa, the Bulgarian driver of the truck was arrested, but he is not cooperating with the authorities and refuses to give details of the trafficking network.

As protothema.gr wrote earlier, the cargo had started from Valencia, Spain, and followed a route through Italy, while the possibility that the final destination was Turkey, where the price of the drug is higher, is being considered.
