Rainy weather persists in Athens until midday – when sunshine is expected to return

The temperature today in Athens will not rise higher than 15 degrees Celsius

The rainy weather continues today in Attica. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), local showers will persist in the Athens basin at least until midday, while temperatures will remain below 15°C.

Sunshine is expected to return from Monday onward, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 28°C by Tuesday.

According to the EMY forecast, in eastern parts of the country cloud cover and local rainfall are expected, while from the afternoon isolated thunderstorms may occur in coastal areas of Central Macedonia. In the rest of the country, scattered clouds will temporarily increase, bringing local rain or showers mainly during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the southern Ionian and western Peloponnese during the morning hours. Local snowfall will occur in mountainous areas of the northern mainland.

Winds will blow from northern directions at 4–6 Beaufort, reaching 7 and locally up to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will drop slightly further, remaining low for the season, reaching 13–15°C in the north, 15–16°C in eastern mainland areas, 17–19°C elsewhere, and up to 20°C in southern Crete and the Dodecanese.

Macedonia – Thrace:
Cloudy intervals with local rain. Possible isolated thunderstorms in coastal areas from the afternoon. Snowfall in mountainous regions. Temperatures 9–15°C (lower in western Macedonia).

Ionian Islands – Epirus – Western Greece – Western Peloponnese:
Local rain in the southern Ionian and Peloponnese, with isolated morning thunderstorms. Temperatures 9–19°C.

Thessaly – Central & Eastern Greece – Evia – Eastern Peloponnese:
Increased cloudiness with local rain, mainly until the afternoon. Temperatures 7–16°C.

Cyclades – Crete:
Clouds with local rain, mainly in Crete. Temperatures 11–18°C, reaching 20°C in southern Crete.

Eastern Aegean Islands – Dodecanese:
Cloudy periods with local rain. Temperatures 14–20°C.

Attica:
Cloudy periods with possible local showers until midday. Temperatures 9–15°C.

Thessaloniki:
Cloudy with rain and possible isolated thunderstorms later in the day. Temperatures 9–14°C.

Outlook for the coming days

Sunday (May 3):
Rain in eastern mainland and the Aegean, with isolated storms in coastal areas. Improvement in the evening in mainland areas. Snow in mountainous regions. Temperatures 15–20°C west, 15–17°C elsewhere.

Wednesday (May 6):
Partly cloudy, with clouds increasing in the afternoon over mainland areas. Continued temperature increase across the country.
