Iran has announced the establishment of a new Authority that will grant approval for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Specifically, according to Iranian media, Tehran is introducing a transit approval process through the “Persian Gulf Strait Authority.”

Iran announced the creation of a new Authority to manage navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, requiring ships to submit applications, pay fees, and obtain approval prior to transit, as reported by Tasnim News Agency.

The Iranian side has established the “Persian Gulf Strait Authority,” a new body which, according to reports, will supervise and regulate the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

How the process will work

Based on the same information, ships wishing to pass through this strategically important maritime passage will need to contact the new Authority, complete the required documents, and pay the designated transit fees.

Once the process is completed, they will be granted permission to cross the Strait, and confirmation will be sent via email.

This development, as presented by the Iranian agency Tasnim, is part of a new framework for managing navigation in one of the world’s most important energy corridors, although no further details have been provided regarding implementation or the reaction of the international community.

At the same time, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards today pledged to deliver a “strong response” to ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz outside the designated route, as the United States conducts an operation aimed at allowing vessels trapped in the Gulf to exit.

“We warn all ships intending to cross the Strait of Hormuz that the only safe passage is the corridor previously announced by Iran,” the ideological army of the Islamic Republic said in a statement.

“Any deviation by a vessel toward other routes is dangerous and will lead to a strong response from the Navy of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards,” according to the statement broadcast by state television.
