African dust, rain, and a slight drop in temperatures will be the main weather features today across most parts of the country.
More specifically, western, central, and northern regions will experience increased cloud cover with local rain showers. Isolated thunderstorms are expected from the afternoon in the northern Ionian Sea, Epirus, and western Central Greece.
In the rest of the country, increased cloudiness with brief local showers is expected, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Weather conditions favor the transport of African dust over central and southern Greece.
Winds will blow from southern directions across the seas at 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally reaching 7 in the Ionian and up to 8 Beaufort in the morning.
Temperatures will slightly decrease in terms of maximum values, reaching 21–23°C in the north, 24–25°C in the rest of the country, locally 26°C in the Dodecanese, and up to 28°C in northern Crete.
MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: Increased cloudiness initially in western Macedonia and gradually in the remaining areas. Local rain or showers are expected from midday onward.
Winds: Light variable winds, turning southerly from midday at 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 8 to 23°C.
IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Increased cloudiness with local rain and, from the afternoon, isolated thunderstorms in the northern Ionian, Epirus, and western Central Greece. Phenomena in western Peloponnese will be short-lived.
Winds: Southeasterly 4 to 5 Beaufort, 6 to 7 in the Ionian and locally 8 Beaufort in the morning, gradually weakening from the afternoon.
Temperature: From 10 to 24°C and locally 25°C in southern areas. In inland Epirus, maximum temperatures will be 3 to 4 degrees lower.
THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EUBOEA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE
Weather: Increased cloudiness with local showers. Improvement expected from the afternoon in most areas and from the evening in Thessaly.
Winds: Southerly 3 to 5 Beaufort, temporarily up to 6 Beaufort in eastern Peloponnese and southern Euboea.
Temperature: From 9 to 24°C and locally 25°C.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: Temporarily increased cloudiness. Brief local showers are expected mainly in the Cyclades around midday and afternoon.
Winds: Southerly 4 to 6 Beaufort and locally 7 Beaufort in western Crete.
Temperature: From 12 to 25°C and locally up to 28°C in northern Crete.
EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE
Weather: Thin clouds gradually becoming denser, with local showers or rain expected in northern areas during the evening.
Winds: Southerly 3 to 5 Beaufort and temporarily up to 6 Beaufort in northern areas.
Temperature: From 13 to 24–25°C and locally 26°C in the south.
ATTICA
Weather: Cloudy skies. Brief local showers are expected around midday and afternoon.
Winds: Southerly 3 to 5 Beaufort, temporarily up to 6 Beaufort in eastern areas.
Temperature: From 11 to 23°C.
THESSALONIKI
Weather: Cloudiness increasing rapidly with local rain showers.
