And the news from the sea is pretty good, with water temperatures in most parts of the country now hovering around 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, according to meteorologist George’s Satrafylia forecast.
This means that the sea is suitable for the first swims of the season, but without yet having the warmth it gains in summer.
The feeling remains cool at first, especially for those who are not yet used to the water or are more sensitive to the cold.
According to the map, the highest values, close to 23 degrees, are mainly found in the Ionian Sea and parts of the northern Aegean.
In most sea areas the temperature is around 21 to 22 degrees, quite normal for the season.
Special care is needed for young children, the elderly and people sensitive to cold. It is advisable to enter the sea slowly and gradually, so that the body can adapt to the water temperature.
Do not enter abruptly, especially if you have been in the sun for a long time or if the temperature difference between your body and the sea is large.
As the summer progresses, the sea will get warmer.
In August, which is usually the month with the highest water temperatures, Greek seas often reach 25 to 28 degrees, while in shallow and more closed sea areas they can rise even higher.
Simply put: the sea is now for swimming, but not yet for everyone with the same comfort.
For the more adventurous it is already ideal.
For the more sensitive, a little patience, gradual entry and caution are needed, especially during the first dips of summer.
