Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to a broad range of current issues in his regular Sunday post, focusing on the Panhellenic university entrance exams, government initiatives, the cost-of-living pressures, developments in the Middle East and hydrocarbon exploration in Greece.

Mitsotakis began his post with a message to students sitting the Panhellenic exams, stressing that although the exams are an important milestone, they are not the only one. «No result can measure the value, potential or path of a young person,» he said.

He also reminded candidates and their families that the Education Ministry has activated the free 1550 telephone line, available until 30 June, offering psychological support through a nationwide network of psychologists from interdisciplinary assessment, counselling and support centres.

On the cost of living, Mitsotakis said continuing developments in the Middle East were prolonging the energy crisis, affecting prices and the daily lives of citizens. In this context, he announced that the diesel subsidy would be extended for June, with support of 15 cents per litre, so that the price remains about 30 cents lower than in March.

The Prime Minister also said that the one-off support payment of 150€ for each child would be paid at the end of the month, without any application being required. The measure, he noted, will apply under expanded income criteria covering more than 80% of households in Greece, benefiting almost one million families.
