A handbag made from collagen derived from Tyrannosaurus fossil material is expected to reach up to $500,000 at an auction in Paris, Reuters reports.

According to the report, while it is difficult to determine the exact valuation due to the lack of comparable previous sales, the price is expected to reach very high levels, as the investment required to produce such a piece is considered colossal.

Alexandre Giquello, a representative of the Drouot auction house, said the investment involved runs into millions, which is why the starting price was set between $300,000 and $500,000. He described the object as a blend of dream, scientific reality, and imaginative fantasy.

“This is a mixture of dream, scientific reality and great imagination,” he noted.
