A maritime drone rescued the crew of a U.S. military helicopter that crashed on Monday near the Strait of Hormuz, according to American officials.
The two service members are safe and are being treated in stable condition.
According to a statement from the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the AH-64 Apache helicopter went down near the coast of Oman while conducting a patrol in the area.
The two pilots were located and rescued approximately two hours after the incident.
It has not yet been clarified what type of unmanned surface vessel was used in the rescue operation. According to a U.S. official cited by ABC News, the vehicle had a design similar to a high-speed boat.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
