Five sperm whales were recorded in the Ionian Sea, south of Lefkada and in the direction of Paxos, in a rare sight that impressed those who were in the area. In the video circulating on social media, the large marine mammals can be seen moving close to one another, repeatedly surfacing from the sea.

The Ionian Sea is one of the most important habitats for cetaceans in the Mediterranean, with occasional sightings of whales and dolphins recorded every year.
