From the Headquarters of the Hellenic Police it is announced that, in recent times, a fraudulent electronic message (phishing email) has been circulating, attempting to deceive citizens by illegally using the name of the Europol National Unit and the Hellenic Police.

More specifically, the message appears to have been sent from the email address enugr@enu.gr (HELLENIC EUROPOL NATIONAL UNIT), and bears the subject “JUDICIAL ORDER”.

The perpetrators, using these details in a letter allegedly issued by competent supervisory authorities, attempt to deceive internet users, claiming that the recipient is involved in a case of child pornography and other offences.

In fact, by using logos of the European Union and EUROPOL, as well as a false signature of a supposed Inspector General of Police, they attempt to give the letter a sense of “authenticity”.

In this context, it is announced that the following text/message circulating via email as a supposed letter from the “Inspector General of Police” is clearly fake and fraudulent, and is being sent by individuals attempting to deceive and mislead citizens and subsequently obtain illegal financial gain.
