Unstable conditions are expected to develop mainly over the mainland from Wednesday, June 24, especially during the midday and afternoon hours. Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are forecast mostly in mountainous areas of western and northern Greece, without bringing a major change to the overall weather pattern.
Temperatures will remain within normal levels for late June, while northerly winds in the Aegean will continue to keep conditions away from heatwave levels.
Today, generally clear weather is expected across most of Greece. After midday, clouds will develop over mainland areas from Central Greece northwards, with the exception of Thrace. Local showers and brief thunderstorms are expected, mainly in mountainous areas.
Temperatures will reach 35C to 36C on the mainland, while the Ionian islands, Crete and the Dodecanese will see highs of 33C to 34C.
In Attica, sunshine is forecast throughout the day. Northerly winds will reach up to 6 Beaufort, with temperatures ranging from 20C to 34C.
In Thessaloniki, clouds will increase temporarily around midday and in the afternoon, with local showers expected mainly in the surrounding mountains. Winds will blow from the south-southeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while temperatures will range from 21C to 33C.
In Macedonia and Thrace, the weather will be generally clear, although cloud cover will appear first in central Macedonia and later across the rest of Macedonia. Local showers and isolated mountain thunderstorms are expected after noon, easing in the evening. Temperatures will reach 33C, while western Macedonia will be 2C to 3C cooler.
In the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Central Greece and the western Peloponnese, the day will begin mostly clear. Temporary clouds will form over the mainland around midday and in the afternoon, bringing local showers to the mountains of Epirus and western Central Greece, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Temperatures will reach 33C, and locally 34C to 35C on the mainland.
Thessaly, eastern Central Greece, Evia and the eastern Peloponnese will also see generally clear weather, with some temporary cloud cover during the warmer part of the day and local showers in the mountains. Temperatures will reach 34C, and locally 35C.
The Cyclades and Crete will remain clear, with northerly winds of 5 to 6 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 21C to 28C, reaching 30C in southern Crete.
The eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese will also see clear weather, with northerly winds of 5 to 6 Beaufort. Temperatures will reach 31C, and locally 33C in the Dodecanese.

From Wednesday through Friday, unsettled weather is expected to become more pronounced, with rain and thunderstorms forecast in several parts of mainland Greece. Temperatures are not expected to change significantly, while northerly winds in the Aegean will reach up to 6 Beaufort.
Over the weekend, Aegean winds are forecast to strengthen, bringing a slight drop in temperatures. At the same time, the unstable weather will ease, with no significant rainfall expected.
