A firefighting helicopter has crashed earlier today into the artificial Lake Aoos in Metsovo, with no fatalities reported.
The two crew members, one Greek and one foreign firefighter, are alive.
The helicopter was operating in firefighting efforts in a nearby area and had gone to the lake to carry out water collection (water intake).
The incident triggered the immediate mobilisation of both the Fire Service and the National Emergency Aid Centre (EKAV).
The two pilots swam and managed to reach the shore on their own, although they were injured.
