A wildfire has broken out in farmland and woodland in the Sfaka area near Oinoi, in Mandra, Attica.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze started shortly before 3:30pm and is not threatening homes or infrastructure.
A total of 144 firefighters, supported by six ground teams from the 1st EMODE Special Forest Firefighting Unit, volunteers and 34 fire engines, have been deployed to tackle the blaze. The Attica IKAROS drone unit is also operating at the scene, while eight aircraft and four helicopters, one of them assigned to coordinate the aerial operation, are carrying out periodic water drops.

At 4:37pm, the 112 emergency alert system was activated, urging residents to remain on standby.
Water tankers and heavy machinery from the Region of Attica are also assisting the firefighting operation.
At the same time, the West Attica Arson Crime Investigation Unit has been dispatched to the area to investigate the cause of the fire.
It is noted that, according to today’s wildfire risk map, Attica is classified as Category 4, indicating a very high wildfire risk.
Finally, the Fire Service stressed that, throughout the incident, the Operations Coordination Centre (ESKEDIK) has been receiving continuous live footage from the drone through both optical and thermal imaging cameras.
