US armed forces struck an Iranian submarine and a ship maintenance facility in Iran on Sunday, using one-way attack drones, the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the military command responsible for the Middle East region, announced on Monday.
“Yesterday, using multiple one-way attack surface drones, CENTCOM forces successfully struck a submarine and ship maintenance facility in Iran.”
Three Corsair-type unmanned surface vessels struck the port at Bandar Abbas Naval Base, marking the first time US armed forces have used maritime drones in combat operations.
The strikes carried out last night weakened Iran’s ability to continue launching attacks against commercial shipping.
“Last night’s strikes degraded Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial shipping,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.
