Authorities have located the cell phone belonging to Chinese national Yu Ting, who has been missing since late May 2026. According to reports, the device was switched on three days after her disappearance, after a man inserted a SIM card into it, causing it to emit a signal.

The man, an Albanian national, told police a Bulgarian national had given him the phone after finding it on the street. That individual was subsequently questioned and led police to the spot where he said he found the device. Police have taken the phone in for examination.

Meanwhile, the search for Yu Ting continues, with no results so far.

Earlier this month, her Greek husband Vassilis Karavassilis told a television station that he believed his wife had either been kidnapped or was dead.

“The kidnapping scenario is on my mind in the sense that, since no body has been found, there’s a small chance she’s still alive. It’s just that the motive for this kind of kidnapping is a bit strange. I mean, since no one has demanded a ransom, it’s a bit strange,” he said.

Authorities are examining Yu Ting’s recent financial transactions, including large sums of money she is alleged to have lent out, which are now the subject of legal proceedings.

“The 60,000 euros is from the two promissory notes. The case has been filed in court. This dispute is with one person. Simply put, my purchase of the property is a similar case related to such transactions,” her husband said.
