A wildfire broke out shortly before 2:00 p.m. in a forested area near Lefkimmi in Soufli, triggering an immediate response from the Fire Service.

A total of 32 firefighters, equipped with seven fire engines, along with two teams from the 7th Special Forest Operations Unit (EMODE), volunteers and water tankers from the Municipality of Soufli, have rushed to the scene to contain the fire.

Aerial firefighting operations are also underway, with three aircraft and one helicopter carrying out water drops.

The Evros Arson Investigation Unit has been activated to determine the cause of the fire.
