The third round of technical talks on the delimitation of maritime zones between Greece and Libya is taking place today, Monday, July 27, in Athens.

The discussions follow the first round of talks in Athens and the second round, held on June 10, 2026, in Tripoli, led by Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou.

In the negotiations over the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the continental shelf, the Greek side is basing its position on international law, the maritime entitlements of islands, and its view that the Turkey–Libya maritime memorandum is legally invalid.

It is recalled that the two countries had come close to reaching an agreement on maritime delimitation in 2010, although the negotiations ultimately did not result in a final deal.
