The firefighting operation remains fully underway following the wildfire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon, July 28, in an area of Paros covered by dry vegetation and waste, where scattered homes are also located.

According to the latest update from the Fire Brigade, 86 firefighters are currently operating at the scene, supported by four wildfire response teams from the 1st Special Forest Operations Unit (EMODE) from Attica and 24 fire engines, including forces that arrived by ferry from Attica earlier today.

From the air, two firefighting aircraft and five helicopters are conducting periodic water drops, with one of the helicopters responsible for coordinating aerial operations. Volunteers are also assisting the firefighting effort, while the Municipality of Paros is contributing two water tankers and a construction vehicle. The overall operation is being coordinated by the Deputy Chief of the Fire Brigade.

Firefighters continue to battle scattered hotspots and areas producing smoke, while water is being sprayed along the entire perimeter of the fire to prevent possible flare-ups.
