Residents of Iceland and much of Spain, along with the many tourists who have flocked to both countries, will have the chance to watch the solar eclipse visible this afternoon.

In Iceland, the phenomenon will be visible at close to 100% at 20:45 Greek time, while in Spain it will occur at 21:30 Greek time (20:30 local time), close to sunset.

In Greece, the total eclipse of the sun will be barely visible, appearing only as a partial eclipse in parts of the northwest of the country, such as Corfu (2.34% coverage), Igoumenitsa (1.29%), Konitsa, Kastoria and Florina. However, the obscuring of the solar disc, occurring almost simultaneously with sunset at around 8:30pm, will be minimal and difficult to notice.
