Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation last night with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, focusing on developments concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gerapetritis was briefed on the ongoing discussions regarding the Strait, emphasizing the importance of freedom of navigation and maritime security.

“Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation last night with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Mr. Gerapetritis was briefed by his Iranian counterpart on regional developments, and in particular on the ongoing discussions concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

The Greek Foreign Minister stressed the importance of freedom of navigation and maritime security, while the two ministers agreed to hold consultations on Greece’s positions at the bilateral, technical level.

They also discussed the European Union’s positions regarding Iran and agreed to keep channels of communication open, including through their newly appointed ambassadors.”
