An Italian tourist was seriously injured in Alonnisos when she attempted to move from a sailboat to a nearby vessel. The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday on the islet of Skantzoura, near Alonnisos.
As she tried to move from one boat to the other, the woman lost her balance, fell, and hit her neck. According to reports, the impact caused bleeding and she experienced temporary memory loss.
As soon as the accident was reported, a Greek Coast Guard vessel was mobilized and transported the tourist to Alonnisos, where she received first aid at the local medical clinic.
Doctors, however, determined that she needed to be transferred to Volos Hospital. She was transported aboard the vessel Axion Esti, which arrived at the port of Volos at 5:00 a.m. She was then immediately taken by an EKAB ambulance to the hospital.
