The online platform for new applications to the “Personal Assistant for People with Disabilities” program will open on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Following its pilot implementation, the program has now become a permanent nationwide service.
Interested applicants will be able to submit their applications online through the official Personal Assistant platform.
Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Domna Michailidou said the program gives people with disabilities “greater autonomy and more choices, so that they can organize their lives as they themselves wish.” She noted that the Personal Assistant program was introduced for the first time in Greece, tested in practice, improved based on feedback from beneficiaries and assistants, and ultimately established as a permanent nationwide institution. “From Wednesday, new applications will open throughout Greece,” she said.
The Personal Assistant provides individualized support based on the needs and choices of each person with a disability, strengthening their independence and freedom of choice. Beneficiaries select their own assistant and organize the support they need with everyday and personal care, transportation, employment, education, access to services and participation in social life.
Who can apply
The program is open to people with physical, intellectual, developmental, sensory or mental disabilities who:
- are between 16 and 67 years old, with a special provision extending eligibility to age 75 in certain cases;
- have a disability rate of at least 67% for their primary condition, or are classified as having total disability;
- permanently and legally reside in Greece;
- are tax residents of Greece; and
- meet the applicable income criteria.
The basic income threshold is €35,000 per year per household. This is increased by €17,500 for each additional adult household member, or for the first minor member in a single-adult household, and by €8,750 for each additional minor member.
Up to €1,939 per month for personal assistance
After an application is submitted, applicants undergo scoring and an individualized assessment of their needs. Depending on the category of need determined through the assessment, the monthly value of Personal Assistance can be up to:
- €416 for limited needs;
- €831 for moderate needs;
- €1,352 for extensive needs; and
- €1,939 for absolute and continuous dependency.
The assessment takes into account not only the applicant’s disability but also their level of functioning, living conditions and actual support needs, so that the assistance approved corresponds to their individual circumstances.
No first-come, first-served system
The order in which applications are submitted does not affect eligibility for the program. Applicants therefore do not need to rush to submit their application during the first hours or days after the platform opens. The submission date does not affect the scoring or assessment of an application.
Applications can be submitted until Friday, November 27, 2026, exclusively online through the official Personal Assistant application platform.
