A fire broke out around midday Tuesday (August 25) in low vegetation in Kalopigado, Keratea. According to reports, the fire is burning among homes.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m., a new 112 emergency alert was sent, calling on residents of the Agia Marina and Tsonima areas to evacuate toward Lavriou Avenue.

Earlier, a 112 alert had been sent to residents of the Trechantiera area, urging them to remain on standby and follow the instructions of the authorities.

A total of 70 firefighters, including three foot teams from the 1st EMODE specialized wildfire unit, are battling the blaze, supported by 23 fire engines and volunteers. From the air, two aircraft and three helicopters are operating.

Water tankers from the Municipality of Lavrio are also assisting with firefighting efforts.
