AADE’s targeted inspections on Mykonos are continuing unabated, making use of both digital tools and myDATA data, as well as every available tax and non-tax source of information.

In Ano Mera, during an inspection at a kiosk, AADE inspectors cross-referenced the myDATA digital records with the diary maintained by the business owner and found that receipts worth more than €90,000 had not been issued during the previous four months. For the violations, a fine of more than €5,000 was imposed, while the business was ordered to suspend operations for two days.

In a second inspection on Mykonos, at a well-known restaurant-café bar, AADE inspectors found that tax documents had not been issued and proceeded to impose fines and a two-day shutdown.

According to AADE, these cases highlight the ability of tax authorities to combine information that is not limited strictly to tax data, allowing them to form a more complete picture of the actual activity of businesses. Thus, from a kiosk’s diary to activity by the sea, data leaves traces, and those traces lead to inspections.

AADE inspections on Mykonos and other tourist destinations are continuing, with particular emphasis on areas experiencing high levels of tourist activity and with the combined use of digital data, information, and evidence collected during on-site inspections.
